چکیده

The effects o f new Tubulicid R (a commerical cavity cleanser which contains 0,2 per cent disodium EOT A) on smear layer removal from ground and cavity dentine surfaces with and without mechanical agitation were de termined. None o f the surfaces displayed smear layer re moved scores greater than one. Although mechanical agi tation appeared to improve the smear layer removed properties o f new Tubulicid R this was found not to be significant. The difference between smear layer removal from ground surfaces and cavity surfaces was also found not to be significant. A significant difference in smear layer removal (p<0,02) was however, found when flat ground dentine treated with new Tubulicid R and mech anical agitated surfaces were compared to cavity surfaces subjected to chemical cleansing alone. A New Nano-Chitosan Irrigant with Superior Smear Layer Removal and Penetration

Our primary objective was to measure root canal penetrations of aqueous antibacterial nano-chitosan (Nano-CS), for the first time. The second objective was to compare and contrast such penetrations to those of chitosan (CS) itself, as well as sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl), chlorhexidine (CHX) and ethylenediamintetraacetic acid (EDTA), at the routinely used concentrations. Molar roots were split l...

بررسی خاصیت ضد میکروبی عصاره Citrus aurantifolia علیه انتروکوکوس فکالیس موجود در توبول‌های عاجی در حضور لایه اسمیر

Background and Aims: Instrumentation of the root canals results in formation of smear layer which covers the dentinal tubules. In infected teeth, it is ideal to achieve a material that has the ability to remove the smear layer besides antimicrobial activity. Therefore, this study was designed to evaluate the antimicrobial effect of Citrus aurantifolia extracts (lime juice and rind extract) on E...

A Comparative Study of the Removal of Smear Layer by Two Endodontic Irrigants and Nd:YAG Laser: A Scanning Electron Microscopic Study

The aim of this study was to compare the effect of 17% EDTA, 5% maleic acid, and Nd:YAG laser on smear layer removal by SEM. Eighty single-rooted teeth were divided into three groups of 25 according to the final procedure for smear layer removal: irrigation by 17% EDTA or 5% maleic acid or Nd:YAG laser irradiation. The other five teeth was used as control. Roots were sectioned into buccal and l...

Effects on smear layer and debris removal with varying volumes of 17% REDTA after rotary instrumentation.

The purpose of this study was to quantify the volume of 17% ethylene diamine tetra-acetic acid (EDTA) needed to efficiently remove the smear layer after rotary instrumentation, and to determine if additional irrigation has any effect on debris removal. Forty single canal teeth were instrumented with ProFile GT rotary instruments. Experimental groups were irrigated with 1, 3, or 10 ml of 17% EDT...
